The best craft beer bars in Paris

Paris has embraced craft beer, and not only in trendy neighbourhoods. Breweries that produce on site, shops where you drink at the counter, bars with rotating taps: the specialist press (Barmag, Time Out, Télérama) has followed the rise for several years.

For house-brewed beer, Kilomètre Zéro, described by Barmag as a brewpub running on passion, Micro Brasserie Balthazar in Ménilmontant, which sells its beers on tap only, and Patoche, a 100% Montmartre brewpub founded by two friends, are benchmarks. Les Cuves de Fauve places the Fauve brewery's tanks right at the bar.

For variety, La Binouze and Mikkeller on rue Marguerite de Rochechouart, and Hoppy Corner in the Sentier, bet on a very wide choice. For a quirkier atmosphere, Les Caves Alliées has run a geeky, medieval bar since 2012, and Le Supercoin, an 18th-arrondissement neighbourhood dive, ranks as a low-budget pick.
