About Gatto

How Gatto picks where you should eat.

Trip-planning shouldn't be 40 open tabs and 1,000 conflicting voices. Gatto reads the guides for you, weighs the signal, and surfaces what actually deserves your time.

The problem

Too many lists, not enough trust.

Every city has its lists. Michelin says one thing, Time Out another, your cousin's blog a third. Half are out of date. A third are paid placements. You end up at the tourist trap with great Instagram and a 1h wait.

Our approach

Three rules, every place we cover.

  1. 1

    Read first.

We pull mentions from 1,200+ trusted publications: Michelin, Le Fooding, Time Out, NYT, plus niche guides. Every place is read before it ever appears in the app.

  2. 2

    Weight by signal.

Sources are weighted by editorial track record, recency, and contextual fit. A 2024 Michelin star outweighs a 2017 listicle. A local critic outweighs a viral TikTok with no follow-through.

  3. 3

    Cross-reference, every time.

Consensus across multiple trusted sources is what earns the top tiers of Signal Index. Single mentions are noted, never headlined.

What you get

One signal, actually useful.

Signal Index, 7-tier ranking

Every place gets a tier: must-visit, safe-bet, notable, on-the-radar… You see the consensus at a glance, never a 0-100 number designed to game you.
How Signal Index works

Curated guides

Editorial lists per city: best brunches, hidden bistros, post-work cocktails. Read first, picked by us.

Transparent sourcing

Every signal cites its sources. Click any place and see exactly which guides, press, and accounts cover it.

Trust

What we won't do.

  • No paid placements. No place pays to be listed, surfaced, or ranked higher. Ever.

  • No scoring theater. Numbers like 87/100 are designed to feel precise. We show consensus, not decimals.

  • No data selling. We don't sell user data, ever. Our business is the app, not the audience.
