Greece in Paris: ouzeris, tavernas and souvlaki

Greek food has long been reduced to a late-night sandwich or a tourist taverna. Paris now has tables that take the subject seriously, from souvlaki counters to family tavernas, on very different budgets. This selection gathers seven addresses cited by the press and the guides, without mixing registers: you come to eat Greek, not for a vaguely Mediterranean menu.

In Montorgueil, Filakia, little brother of the Grand Café d'Athènes, serves souvlaki in house-made pita at a low price; the Grand Café, on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis, offers a bistro take led by chef Chloé Monchalin. In the 18th, étsi - l'ouzeri is a warm corner taverna where you share octopus salad, spanakópita and saganáki. At the foot of the Contrescarpe, Les Délices d'Aphrodite carries a Michelin Guide Coup de cœur, and Mavrommátis Passy extends the family house of the Champs-Élysées in its own way.

At Bastille, Taverna explores Greek-Cypriot cooking in small plates, and Elià, in the 11th, bets on the Greek canteen at low prices.
