Lille's Mexican wave grew up

La déferlante tacos a cédé la place à une vraie scène : ceviche, fusion latino, taquerias d'auteur. Voici où elle se mange pour de bon.

Lille's Mexican wave grew up

Five years ago, "Mexican" in Lille mostly meant French-style tacos and late-night burritos. That time is over. The city has built a real Latin scene, and it has a face: Manon Liétard, who cut her teeth at the counter of La Güerita before opening Beatriz, her committed table that Le Fooding and Gault&Millau immediately embraced.

Around her, the wave is rising and diversifying. Tigermilk pushes things Peruvian with its black cod ceviches; Los 3 Compadres holds the top in Wazemmes; Mexicanas and Taco Memo defend the authentic, no freezer. From street food to a proper meal, these are the addresses where Lille's Mexico is eaten for real. Not the tourist traps, the real ones.
