Sémélé is a feminist and activist wine shop founded by Mathieu Lévy in October 2021. Specializing in wines from female winemakers, it showcases over 200 references highlighting women in the wine industry, often less visible than their male counterparts. Beyond its carefully curated selection of natural and quality wines, Sémélé offers discovery boxes of two or three bottles with descriptive cards for learning while tasting. The walls are decorated with a collection of artworks created by female artists. Mathieu, a former engineer turned passionate sommelier, guides customers with expertise toward gems including Jurassian pinots, Languedoc pétillants, and Haitian rums. The shop plans to offer tastings at its central wooden table to better showcase its bottles.
