Au Cheval is considered one of the best burger joints in Chicago, bro. I have been to their NYC outpost, and can confirm that it’s legit. But you know what they don’t have on the menu — actual cheval. We’re talking horse, of course… and they’re serving it up at Chicago Factory, this funky fast food joint in Paris, just a couple blocks from Bercy Arena. Now, I actually have had horse before, at this French bistro in Toronto called La Palette, bro. That horse tenderloin reminded me of steak… but this is a bit different. More like an open face burger, served with a fried egg on top. But it’s still pretty tender, nicely seasoned (maybe a little too peppery) and the pepper sauce on the side adds a nice kick. I wouldn’t say neigh to eating this again!!!! Of course, you KNOW I paid 2.50 Euro extra to upgrade to cheddar bacon fries. Dude, this is body by cheddar bacon fries!!!! Now this is definitely beef bacon, so it’s not as crispy, and the cheese sauce is basically Taco Bell grade queso — but you could pour that on me any day, bro! As far as horse rodeos go, I’d probably still pick La Palette, but if I’m going through the desert on a horse with no name, I’d stop for this horse steak any day, son!!!!
