Chez Mamane
Middle Eastern restaurant — Quartier De La Maison Blanche (Paris)
About
Chez Mamane is a legendary institution in Paris's 13th arrondissement, located on rue des Cinq-Diamants in the bohemian Butte-aux-Cailles neighbourhood. This unpretentious bistro, adorned with street art by Miss.Tic, has been serving authentic Algerian cuisine for over 25 years. Now run by founder Mamane's son Fawzi, it continues to delight regulars with generous, soul-warming couscous: fine, fluffy semolina, fragrant homemade broth, perfectly cooked vegetables, and tender meats. The restaurant embodies convivial dining at its finest—shared tables, worn oilcloth tablecloths, and genuine hospitality. A beloved neighbourhood canteen where students, locals, and tourists gather for authentic food, hearty portions, and affordable prices. Recipient of the Time Out Food & Drink Awards' Rising Generation prize.
