Au P'tit Curieux
Restaurant — 10th arrondissement (Paris)

À propos
Tucked away in Paris's 10th arrondissement, Au P'tit Curieux is more than just a restaurant: it's a multi-sensory experience where gastronomy meets music. Founded by Selim Ben Amor, a former professional cellist, the establishment offers an inventive Franco-Italian cuisine that evolves with the seasons. The atmosphere is intimate and bohemian, with carefully crafted decor: colorful velvet chairs, custom-designed tilted bar, and an artistic mural. After dinner, jazz and classical musicians take over the space, transforming the restaurant into a genuine cultural meeting point. The concise yet refined menu showcases fresh, high-quality ingredients, paired with a selection of Burgundy wines. A place where cuisine, music, and hospitality intertwine to create unique and memorable moments.
Mentions
Au P'tit Curieux, 27 Rue de Sambre-et-Meuse, Paris 10
The restaurant is in a somewhat forgotten part of the tenth arrondissement, one that still looks like areas of Paris in 1950s films noir (although it is not a dangerous area, of course). French film fans may think of Bob le Flambeur and Touchez pas au Grisbi [https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!rJUd!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Ff7d65c75-eef3-4968-bce1-e7db5bd03908_4032x3024.jpeg] https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!rJUd!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Ff7d65c75-eef3-4968-bce1-e7db5bd03908_4032x3024.jpeg . As a result, along with Pétrelle in the ninth arrondissement, it one of the most romantic restaurants in Paris. The room included groups of French people of varying ages who seemed to be regulars, a thirtyish American couple, and a couple of about the same age who seemed to have New Zealand accents (perhaps in town for the Rugby World Cup). For a first course, I took the salmon gravlax on a bed of quinoa. It was correct, but nothing exceptional. I accompanied it with a glass of very good Beaune 1er Cru en l’Orme from Domaine Germain. Like the first course, this was a very generous portion that could serve for two, and it, too, was correct but not exceptional. With it, I took a glass of red Givry (not listed on the carte as by-the-glass, and so charged on the bill as Crozes-Hermitage) [https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!22di!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F38d315be-cdfd-4434-b2d8-11a6ee638e64_3117x1968.jpeg] https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!22di!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F38d315be-cdfd-4434-b2d8-11a6ee638e64_3117x1968.jpeg Due to the size of the portions, I did not take a cheese or dessert course. There is another room downstairs where in addition to more tables there is also a piano (I gather live jazz concerts are sometimes given) and the restrooms, which are notable for the paintings on the doors: [https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!SGvA!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa16db68d-f976-4cb1-bf51-029212af70b7_4032x3024.jpeg] https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!SGvA!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fa16db68d-f976-4cb1-bf51-029212af70b7_4032x3024.jpeg [https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WUhs!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F793ee0fc-c3fa-4c66-b20c-170f1020d8e8_4032x3024.jpeg] https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!WUhs!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F793ee0fc-c3fa-4c66-b20c-170f1020d8e8_4032x3024.jpeg The bottom line: [https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!_MV3!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F809bbe66-2f4e-4440-8869-a5c48e2010cc_4032x3024.jpeg] https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!_MV3!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F809bbe66-2f4e-4440-8869-a5c48e2010cc_4032x3024.jpeg Au P’tit Curieux is a charming and romantic restaurant.
