Tiger, Paris, France - Bar Review | Condé Nast Traveler

First impression? The space is covered in hanging and potted plants, palm-leaf wallpaper and green mosaic tiles. (Sadly, there's no pool, but you sort of expect it to be hidden in the back!) Cool. So who’s there? The crowd is casual, but buttoned-up—Left Bank style. They're a bit more tucked-in than those on Rive Droite, but it's still a pretty chill group even if they're serious about their gin drinks. The bar is on a small side street, so it's a definite destination whether you've come from as far as New York or the just the other side of the Seine. How are the drinks? It's all about gin. The menu features quirky watercolor illustrations and is loaded with 130 different varieties to choose from including Tanqueray and Forest Dry. You can go simple with house made tonic, or mixed and garnished with a candied orange or twig of lavender. There are options aplenty like the ‘Last Call’ with a dash of absinthe, pineapple juice, and cinnamon. Worth ordering something to eat, too? They do offer a small food menu, though it's somewhere in between upscale bar nibbles and legit food: when we visited, there were pulled pork buns and sliced Ibérico ham on offer. Did the staff do you right? They do table service here, and the servers (in their tan hyde aprons) are attentive and bilingual, which can be helpful for those who don't speak French and want to dive deep into the layered menu. Wrap it up: what are we coming here for? Depending on when you go, this trendy bar could be a good setting for dates (go early, when it's quiet and you're guaranteed a seat), an informal work meeting (again, go early) or late-night when it's standing room only. Of all the gin joints in all the towns in the world, this is classy, but cool one.
