On mange bien pour un prix raisonnable et c'est finalement ce qu'on attend d'un resto de ce type. Après avoir choisi une entrée parmi les incontournables oeuf-mayo, carottes râpées ou harengs-pomme à l'huile, vous vous laisserez tenter par une andouillette à la moutarde ou un cassoulet cuit au four. Sinon, il vous sera bien sûr proposé, sur l'ardoise, le plat du jour. Dommage qu'ils aient cru bon restreindre l'espace pour accueillir le maximum de personnes. On est un peu serré et les non-fumeurs devront faire avec les autres... Tucked away in the Trocadero area of Paris that lies behind the Palais de Chaillot, and Trocadero Gardens, just out of sight of the Eiffel Tower is a perfectly situated cafe called Le Poincare. Sitting in two chairs around a tiny table, hearing French all around you as local business people sit down and enjoy a quick bite before returning to work, you can be forgiven for forgetting that you are this close to the tourist heart of Paris. The cafe is down a major road, but not a major tourist road. It serves amazing meals for a fraction of the regular tourist cost, have incredible flavours which are finished off with a short strong espresso. Lunch menus include either an entree and a main, or a main and a dessert, as well as a drink and have more food than one person can eat comfortably. Dining as two is the best way to enjoy, with one entree to share, two mains and one dessert to enjoy over two spoons. Freshly baked baguettes, a parmesan cheese salad, tuna tartare and rhubarb tarts were all on the menu the last time we were in town. Topped off with a glass of local French wine, and take your afternoon to wander the local shopping area of Trocadero towards the Arc de Triomphe on Av. Kieber. Or lunch here may give you the desire to do absolutely nothing but to site and take in the ambience of the afternoon.
