À propos

Homer Lobster is a Parisian culinary hotspot reinventing the American lobster roll with a refined French twist. Founded by Moïse Sfez, the 2018 Lobster Roll World Champion, this restaurant serves generous sandwiches featuring blue lobster from Normandy, nestled in homemade brioche. With six locations in Paris and prestigious collaborations (Le Royal Monceau, Intercontinental Carlton), Homer Lobster delivers a high-end street food experience. The menu offers classic and creative variations: Connecticut, Spicy, Avocado, and even a caviar version for the most discerning foodies. Despite recent critiques about lobster quality, the establishment remains a seafood culinary reference.

Homer Lobster in Paris: Once a Hit, Now Half a Miss?

Travel, Foodies, Hotels & Entertainment 🔁 This article was updated on May 25, 2025 to reflect a return visit and revised verdict. Editor's Note May 25, 2025 We returned to Homer Lobster recently... and let’s just say, the claws came off. 🦞 The roll, once a buttery daydream, is now a lobster–crayfish hybrid that lacks depth and delight. Cost-saving? Probably. Flavor-sacrificing? Absolutely. Add to that a bitter cole slaw, subpar service, and an empty shop—and the magic’s gone. The warm brioche bun is still phenomenal, but bread alone does not a lobster roll make. Proceed with caution (and perhaps lower expectations). When the Lobster’s This Good, You Might Just Fly for It (and Not Regret It) May 7, 2025 🥖 OUI OUI, BRIOCHE! A LOBSTER ROLL IN PARIS? Fly to Paris for a lobster roll? You might think they fish 'em out of the Seine. (Don’t worry—they don’t.) Homer Lobster sources its crustaceans from the crisp northwest waters of Normandy, which yield a saltier, sea-air-infused flavor compared to the sweet, buttery charm of Maine’s finest. 🦞 Maine lobster will always be king, but if you’re in Paris and craving shellfish royalty, Homer Lobster might just win your heart—and your stomach. 🍽️ WHERE TO FIND IT (BESIDES YOUR DREAMS) With 6 prime locations in and around Paris—Marais, Odéon, Victor Hugo, Martyrs, Beaugrenelle, Vincennes—and outposts in Marseille and Saint-Tropez, Homer Lobster is France’s fast-casual ode to a very American delicacy. 🛎️ Their collabs are no joke: * 🏨 Le Royal Monceau (Paris 8) * 🏝️ Le Christopher (St. Barth) * 🍾 Intercontinental Carlton (Cannes) * 👑 Le Negresco (Nice – yes, that Le Negresco) The roll is even featured beachside under the gaze of Michelin-starred chef Virginie Basselot (Meilleur Ouvrier de France). That’s right—your lobster roll just went haute. 🧈 SO, IS IT ANY GOOD? Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Also yes. But... 🛑 UPDATE: Turns out the lobster roll was never pure lobster—it’s a lobster–crayfish blend, and that likely explains the muted flavor we experienced on our return visit. Add in bitter cole slaw, subpar service, and an oddly empty shop… and the shine is gone. Consider this a stylish downgrade. Some of what follows now reads like culinary fiction—or at least, a little dead meat. 1. Lobster meat? Used to be fresh, tender, flavorful. 2. Brioche bun? Still homemade, fluffy, maybe the only true star left. 3. Fries? Nope. But truffle chips and cole slaw hold the line just fine, or try to. 🍞 The Classic Connecticut roll (buttery & herby) is a must. 🔥 The Spicy and Avocado upgrades are tempting, and no judgment if you skip the +€30 caviar add-on. (Unless you’re vacationing with Versailles money.) 📋 THE MENU (ABRIDGED, BUT AWESOME) (CHECK THIS OUT FOR MORE) * Shrimp: €15–18 * Crab: €16.50 * Lobster & Crayfish: €20–26 * Classic (mayo, chives) * Connecticut (+€1) * Spicy (+€1) * Avocado (+€2.50) * Caviar (+€30!) 🥪 They also serve tuna melts, smoked salmon, grilled cheese, and yes—a brioche Nutella dessert if your inner child’s still hungry. 🍽️ Want a combo? Try: * Formule Homer (+€4): Sandwich + side + drink * Grosse Faim (+€9): Sandwich + grilled cheese + drink 🧠 BEHIND THE BUN: MOSHE (MOÏSE) SFEZ * 🏆 2018 Lobster Roll World Champion (Portland, Maine) * 🎓 Vatel culinary school alum * 🍽️ Trained under starred chefs in Paris and London * 🧬 Came up with the name, a portmanteau: “Homer” = Homard (French) + Lobster Verdict: It’s fast-casual lobster, Parisian style. The bread is still divine, and the concept has charm—but the lobster (or rather, lobster–crayfish blend) now falls short. It’s not Maine, and based on our latest visit, it’s not quite magic either. Once a chic Plan B… now more of a Plan Be-cautious. ---------------------------------------- Final thought? Sometimes food memories should be savored… and not updated.
